Goodbye Razor...Hello Laser!

Pre Care Guide
Pre Treatment Considerations

  • Make sure to thoroughly shave the target area you want lasered prior to your treatment.  Many times shaving a few times would be required to ensure hair was not accidentally unshaved around the area that is to be targeted with laser.  Your skin should not have any hair on or around the area that will be treated as laser targets melanin and hair is melanin.  You want the laser to target the hair underneath your skin, not the hair on the skin itself.
  • Please make sure you have clean skin.  No deodorant, no lotion.  Shower right before and try to take a cold shower to cool your body and skin down.  Our facilities also has a shower here for clients to take pre and post treatment and depending on how warm the weather is, we might ask you to take a cold shower to cool down before the treatment begins.
  • If you will have your face treated and wear make-up, please remove any make-up to area being treated prior to your treatment session.
  • Avoid sun exposure to area you desire treated.  In addition apply lots of moisturizer with a minimum of SPF 25 at least a few weeks prior to treatment session.   The slightest bit of sun exposure could cause burning, redness, and irritation.
  • Plan plenty of time for your session.  Do not rush and do not rush the technician as it builds up anxiety for both parties involved and it is important to be fully relaxed during treatment.
  • Communication is key.  We will walk you through the treatment each time and inform you what to expect next.  We gladly welcome any questions you might have and are pleased to answer them.
  • You may take Tylenol or Advil prior to treatment to help reduce the inflammation that might occur.  On the first initial treatment we will have the intensity on a lower range of the scale determined for your body's skin and hair type and build you up to the proper level throughout each treatment session.  That is also why there are multiple treatments needed.  In addition we will be providing ice and a cold towel to help reduce inflammation that might occur.  There are techniques and processes that our technicians are well known for and methods that we consider when caring for your skin.
  • On the drive to our facility please listen to relaxing music to calm you down (not meditational CD while driving).  Clients tend to tense up during their first treatment as they are not sure what to expect, what it will feel like.  Once they go through their first treatment their response is usually "was that it?" and then they calm down for future treatments to come.  When the body tenses, the less intensity of the laser machine it can handle since the body is anxious.  It is important to remain relaxed and calm.
  • Try not to drink coffee or caffeine for at least 6 hours prior to treatment.
  • If you have any questions prior to your treatment please contact us via email at: info@selaismedspa.com
