The machine that we use at Selais MedSpaTM is the FDA cleared and approved Cutera ProWave (770-1100nm) . This machine is a combination of three lasers and has varying wavelengths for safety (includes Alexandrite, Diode, and Nd:YAG treatment modes). It is a novel infrared programmable wavelength system that combines the benefits of infrared wavelengths for safely and effectively treating a wide range of skin types with the speed and efficiency of flashlamp technology. It allows for flexibility and optimal wavelength range for specific skin types. Laser hair removal works on skin types I-V, including tanned skin. It provides an unrivaled versatility and speed, achieving maximum results, safety and repeatability. See below for an explanation of the different types of skin:
Type I: Highly sensitive, always burns, never tans. Ex. Red hair with freckles or albinos
Type II: Very sun sensitive, burns easily, tans minimally. Ex. Fair skinned, Fair haired, Caucasians
Type III: Sun sensitive skin, sometimes burns, slowly tans to light brown. Ex. Darker Caucasians, European mix
Type IV: Minimally sun sensitive, burns minimally, always tans to moderate brown. Ex. Mediterranean, European, Asian, Hispanic, American Indian
Type V: Sun insensitive skin, rarely burns, tans well, deeply pigmented. Ex. Hispanic, Afro-American, Middle Eastern
The ingenious design of the machine also adjusts to the varying levels of sensitivity. But the best part of laser hair removal is that it reduces the rate of hair growth, which means permanent hair reduction!
